OVERVIEW:

Supports all portfolios within the enterprise through architecting comprehensive cloud, datacenter, and hybrid solutions to meet business and platform needs. Works collaboratively with all roles and levels to create solutions that align to standards, patterns, principles, and best practices.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use your expertise in cloud and data center technologies and delivery to provide complete architecture solutions and patterns working with application, infrastructure, platform, data, security and teams.

  • Provide consultation on the design, building, testing and deployment of technology solutions.

  • Collaborate with domain leadership and enterprise architects to understand business drivers, business capabilities (future and current state), and determine corresponding solution designs.

  • Enable domain leadership to make business decisions by working with domain subject matter experts to evaluate technology solutions, articulating the value and tradeoffs of each option.

  • Participate in the creation of enterprise architecture standards and evaluate the quality and compliance of delivered solutions to ensure alignment with those standards.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders on initiatives and participate in cross-team Agile ceremonies.

  • Produce, enhance, and refine conceptual, logical, and physical solution architectures that align with Enterprise Architecture principles and vision.

  • Apply cybersecurity, technology, risk principles and standards to ensure proposed solutions are compliant.

  • Research and identify the potential impact of existing, new, and emerging domain technologies, best practices and trends; publish findings internally for use by technology team members to leverage in current and future projects.

  • Align governance activities to the Bank’s architecture standards and escalate to the appropriate stakeholders as needed.

  • Objectively evaluate and solve domain specific architecture problems in partnership with domain SMEs.

  • Mentor less experienced architects and act as the point person for cross-project technical issues and resolution.

  • Harness existing technology resources through collaboration to benefit solutioning efforts.

  • Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

  • Complete other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 year's higher education and/or relevant work experience

  • 5 years of experience as a solution architect providing holistic architecture design

  • 5 years of experience delivering cloud native solutions on Azure, AWS, and/or GCP).

  • 5 years utilizing diagramming tools to produce architecture designs

  • An understanding of network, security, application, and data concepts, components and standard architectures

  • Experience creating architecture patterns and roadmaps

  • Experience communicating, presenting to, and influencing all levels of audiences including both business and technical from executives to engineers.

  • Experience performing research to self-educate on technology, patterns and industry best practices.

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:

  • Graduate degree in a technical discipline

  • Experience delivering native solutions in the Azure cloud platform

  • Industry recognized certification in Azure cloud technologies

  • Experience working in a lead capacity related to banking technical design

  • Experience working in an Agile environment

  • Experience working in the financial services industry

  • Experience with industry standard architecture frameworks

  • Understanding of cloud FinOps practices

M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $130,795.52 - $217,992.53 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation. The range listed above corresponds to our national pay range for this role. The specific pay range applicable to you may vary based on your location.
