Network Deployment Engineer

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a skilled Network Deployment Engineer to join our Infrastructure team. In this role, you will be instrumental in building and scaling Amazon's cloud infrastructure, ensuring the reliability and maintainability of our critical systems. You'll work in a dynamic environment, collaborating with internal and external partners to drive project execution and innovation in our network systems. This is a full-time, remote position based in California, USA, offering a competitive salary of $27/hour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communicate project status and blockers to project and program management.
  • Perform equipment build and cabling approval processes.
  • Oversee cabling vendor processes and perform quality assurance checks.
  • Facilitate team meetings for designing deployment exercises during scheduled change management windows.
  • Participate in the migration, core infrastructure, and rollout of new or upgraded equipment.
  • Fulfill customer requests through the incident tagging system.
  • Collaborate with various partners to remove project obstacles.
  • Investigate networking, routing, and availability issues, including analyzing network equipment configurations and low-level application interactions.
  • Deliver clear, concise, and repeatable arrangements and processes.
  • Manage work and priorities through the tagging system and workflow.

Essential Qualifications

  • Current, active US Government Top Secret (TS) with SCI access and Polygraph clearance.
  • 3+ years of relevant high-level or project experience as an engineer in a dynamic environment; OR a comparable combination of education and technical experience.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking.
  • Broad comprehension of foundational networking concepts.
  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and standards.
  • Familiarity with common networking terms.
  • Up to 20% travel may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or Software Engineering, and certifications such as CCNA or JNCI, and BICSI Level II or higher.
  • Comprehension of foundational networking concepts, including switches, routers, load balancers, and firewalls.
  • Knowledge of network cabling, optic types, and test hardware (e.g., VF, power meter, OTDR).
  • Experience with small to medium-sized, complex project scopes and attention to detail.
  • General understanding of the various components and sub-components of a data center infrastructure.
