Job Title: Lunchroom Supervisor Classification: Classified Accountability: Reports to building level administrators Job Profile: The lunchroom supervisor will be responsible for serving students nutritious meals and maintaining a calm, pleasant, and safe atmosphere for students during lunch hours. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with lunchroom set up and close Help prepare and serve meals Assist younger students with utensils as well as with the opening of cartons, and the unwrapping of packaged food items Maintain the overall cleanliness of the cafeteria by cleaning tables and counters, washing trays and utensils, collecting and disposing of garbage/trash Help enforce safety rules in the lunchroom, playground and activity areas Help organize students in an orderly fashion for lunch retrieval and lunchroom dismissal Monitor students inside the cafeteria and outside on the playground and report any behavior or safety concerns to the Food Service Manager and/or Building Administrator Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Manager and/or Building Administrator Qualifications: Education/Certification High School Diploma/GED Food Handler License Note: Berwyn North School District 98 will provide training to new hires in an effort to support them in attaining the Illinois-required license. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent communications and interpersonal skills Prior experience working with children/adolescents Passion for working with children/adolescents Ability to read, write, and speak proficiently in English Willingness/Ability to assist with the management of student misbehavior Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Willingness/Ability to work outside during inclement weather Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to read, write, and speak proficiently in Spanish Knowledge of First Aid Knowledge of peer mediation and conflict resolution techniques and the ability to apply these strategies in the lunchroom or on the playground Disclaimer: This is not necessarily an all-inclusive list of job-related responsibilities, duties, skills, efforts, requirements or working conditions.
