About the position

As a Senior Manager of Data Engineering at FreeWheel, a Comcast company, you will be responsible for leading a team of Software Development Engineers in the planning and designing of software and web applications. This role encompasses managing projects from their inception through to testing, which includes the development of new programs, enhancements, and modifications to existing applications. You will collaborate closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure thorough testing and quality of the software products. Your leadership will be crucial in developing financial and operational objectives that align with the overall business goals of the organization. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of functional strategies that have a significant impact on business results, typically managing one or more groups of professional employees. In this position, you will oversee the planning and design of software and web applications, ensuring that new programs and modifications meet the required specifications. You will provide guidance to the Software Engineering team and other departments in identifying product and technical requirements, acting as the primary point of contact and liaison between Software Engineering and other teams. Your role will also involve directing implementation initiatives for new software products and applications, organizing the software update process for existing applications, and coordinating the rollout of software releases. You will be responsible for managing all deliverables to ensure adherence to deadlines, specifications, and budgets. This includes implementing performance metrics, preparing periodic reports, and monitoring project progress, reporting findings to the leadership team. Keeping the engineering team updated with the latest technological developments in the industry is essential, as is monitoring and evaluating competitive applications and products. You will provide leadership and direction to department personnel, manage cross-project communications, and exercise independent judgment in significant matters. Regular attendance is required, and you may need to work nights, weekends, and overtime as necessary. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is preferred.

  • 7-10 years of relevant work experience in software development and engineering management.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and guide a team effectively.

  • Experience in project management and delivering software projects on time and within budget.
  • ,
  • Proficient in software development methodologies and practices.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
