The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting and advancing our film-based products, processes, and technologies, with a focus on achieving significant impact at the program level. This position requires a deep understanding of film manufacturing and the ability to optimize product formulations and processes to meet customer needs.Key Responsibilities:
  • Product and Process Support: Provide expert support and services for both existing and new film-based products, processes, and technologies, ensuring they meet program-level impact potential.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Independently collect, compile, and analyze test data to achieve team goals, building a comprehensive understanding of film product performance.
  • Design of Experiments (DOEs): Develop and implement DOEs to optimize product formulations and film processes, ensuring alignment with customer fitness-for-use criteria.
  • Process Improvement: Create detailed data packages that characterize film manufacturing processes and propose improvements during scale-up to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Test Methodology Standardization: Introduce and standardize new test methodologies, including automated testing, and build justification for their widespread adoption based on customer needs and performance improvements.

Your Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Material Science or related field (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Three (3) years of product development experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
  • Master's or Ph.D degree in science or engineering from an accredited institution
  • Rich experience with new product, process and/or technology scale-up and deployment of new technologies
  • Experience in advanced packaging for the semiconductor industry is helpful
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including communicating with colleagues around the globe as well as sourcing, quality, and manufacturing counterparts Demonstrated ability to work in a team supporting a fast-paced industry
  • Passion and curiosity to address industry challenges
  • Self-motivated with a strong growth mindset
