The Vision Products Group (VPG) is looking for a Video Software Engineering Manager to help us push the limits of the next generation of interactive experiences on our platform. This team is working with some of Apple’s most advanced technologies including spatial computing, augmented reality (AR), ARKit and Metal, to create ground-breaking new products. As a member of our creative organization, you will have the uniquely rewarding opportunity to craft future products that will delight and inspire millions of people every single day.DescriptionJoin our experienced engineering team to deliver new and exciting features for Apple Immersive Video playback and rendering on Apple Vision Pro. Both as a manager and contributor, you will lead a small team and work with new technologies such as RealityKit, AVFoundation, Metal and more. You will participate in planning, designing, leading and developing software for new and cutting edge media playback on Apple Vision Pro and other platforms.Minimum QualificationsAt least 5 years of professional experience is requiredBS Computer Science or equivalent engineering degreeAt least 2 years of leadership and/or mentorship of software engineersProficiency in C/C++ with some experience in Obj-C and SwiftFramework/API design for shipping productsRequirements gathering and scoping for complex featuresUnderstanding of video container formats, streaming and basic codec knowledgePreferred QualificationsWorking on advanced technologies such as spatial computing and AR applicationsMS Computer ScienceExperience with immersive video formats such as Spherical v2, OMAF or VR180Understanding of video and audio encoding, delivery and playbackExperience using linear algebra and 3D math3D modeling experience is helpful for visualizing problems and solutionsKnowledge of Xcode and software development on Apple platformsPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $181,000 and $313,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
