The successful candidate: Performs a variety of tasks (phlebotomy, specimen transport, specimen processing for in-house and send-out testing at reference laboratories, answering telephone calls, reviewing pending logs, etc.) to support the laboratory technical and administrative staff. Performs billing functions, when applicable. Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Supervisor and Director. Job Responsibilities: Perform phlebotomy following standard operating procedures and deliver samples to lab. Process specimens for the clinical laboratory accurately and promptly and report variances for any identified issues. Prepare specimens according to directions for send-out testing at reference laboratories. Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers by handling telephone calls promptly and adequately. Review pending logs and perform any required follow-up actions. Perform billing functions to ensure accurate billing, when applicable and perform other duties as assigned. Job Qualifications: Education and Certification: High school diploma required. Skills: Professional demeanor, effective collaboration and communication skills ensuring teamwork with co-workers, nursing staff and physicians. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Excellent customer service skills. City of Hope is an equal opportunity employer.
