Sureify’s mission is to modernize the life insurance and annuity industry by helping carriers acquire, service, and engage their customers through any distribution channel. Sureify’s products empower life insurance carriers, agents, employees, and customers to have the digital experiences employees and consumers have come to expect in the rapidly advancing tech climate.
We’re looking for a talented and results-oriented Cloud Architect to work remotely as a key member of Sureify’s engineering team. You’ll help build and evolve our next-generation cloud-based compute platform for digitally-delivered life insurance. You’ll be a key voice in deciding what technologies and practices we use to operate our software. You’ll consider many dimensions such as strategic goals, growth models, opportunity cost, talent, and reliability. You’ll collaborate closely with the product development team on platform feature architecture such that the architecture aligns with operational needs and opportunities. No one knows all technologies, so you’ll need to research unfamiliar technologies. You’ll develop automation, document practices for operating our software, and engage with the team to ensure that practices are followed. With a deep understanding of our software, you will develop monitoring beyond CPU and memory utilization. You will also:- Drive decisions such as "Will we use a SaaS or self host the various components of our architecture?".
- Develop run books for emergency situations and execute tests of those run books.
- Coordinate third-party reviews of our system.
- Design and automate load tests.
- Track and improve MTBF and MTTR
- Share your keen knowledge with less experienced members of our operations team.
- Strong background in software engineering
- Passion for infrastructure and experience with cloud deployment design and architecture
- Experienced with automation tools and operations methodology
- Strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a close-knit team
- Strong focus on code quality, repeatable processes, automation, and infrastructure defined in code
- Experience building secure applications and methodically improving application performance (Profilers, APM tools, Security scanning tools)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience
- Experience with build and release engineering
- Experience with CI/CD tooling, e.g. GitHub actions, Jenkins
- Familiarity with Terraform, Kubernetes, and AWS
