Student Assistant - Statistical Analysis (Remote)
The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking one student assistant in the Policy Division, Autonomous Vehicles (AV). These positions will assist DMV staff with statistical analysis of publicly available (AV) testing data and data catalogue and database design of program metrics for evaluation. Employment in all positions with University Enterprises, Inc. is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. and the employee. Prerequisites Must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (fall, spring, and winter, if applicable) at an accredited college or university. Majors/Fields of Study Mechanical Engineering; Computer Science - emphasis on Artificial Intelligence; Computer Science Engineering; Computational Sciences and Robotics Work Schedule F lexible workdays and work hours, Monday Friday, between 8 AM 5 PM. The position is 100% telework with virtual meetings via Microsoft Teams or WebEx, mornings or afternoons (PT). The final work schedule will be determined by the supervisor. Additional Work Schedule Student Assistant and Graduate Assistant employees generally work up to 24 hours per workweek (Sunday Saturday) during the academic year and up to 40 hours per workweek during breaks; (winter, spring, and summer).
Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated technical analysis or research experience. Working knowledge of office automation products- including, but not limited to: Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, WebEx. Excellent communication skills- both written and verbal. Able to work on a team via a remote environment. Customer service-oriented.
Preferred Qualifications
Courses in statistics or machine learning research. Duties and Responsibilities Statistical analysis of publicly available Autonomous Vehicle testing data. Data catalogue and database design of program metrics for evaluation. Participation with DMV staff on demonstrations of autonomous technology. Physical Requirements Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computer workstations, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, and scanners with or without reasonable accommodation.
