Adjunct Biology Instructors

Location: All Campuses Job Type: Adjunct Faculty, Credit Job Number: 000493-03 Department: 16001 Biology Opening Date: 01/02/2026 Closing Date: 6/30/2026 11:03 AM Eastern Position Summary The Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics (STEM) Division of Delaware County Community College is searching for Adjunct Instructors to teach day and evening courses in Biology. In conjunction with Delaware County Community College's Mission and Values, Biology (Non-A&P) Adjunct Instructors are responsible for providing quality instruction to students in Biology (Non-A&P) courses at the College. It is the responsibility of the instructors to be knowledgeable of the content they teach as well as able to convey that content in a manner that is accessible to the College's diverse student population. Along with learning and growing the College's culture, Adjunct Faculty are also responsible for providing students with the ability to take their knowledge and apply it to their future coursework and/or the career arc of their choosing. Essential Functions Essential Duties include but not limited to: -

• Plan and provide content instruction to students enrolled in their section(s).
• Hold an office hour per week, per section taught, to meet with students concerning course content and other individual needs
• Assess the knowledge of students enrolled and submit grades representative of their knowledge and achievement on assessments
• Connect students with the campus resources that will best supplement the needs of the students enrolled in your section(s)
• Supplement the material taught in lecture by leading hands-on and interactive labs.

Secondary Duties:

• Attend all professional development and training sessions offered to new and veteran Adjunct Professors at the College
• Meet with Course Coordinators/Custodians to familiarize yourself with the content you teach and how that fits into the larger academic programs your students are enrolled in
• Maintain relevant course materials and information (syllabus, assignments, grades, etc.) in Canvas
• Attend formal observation meetings with the Assistant Dean, STEM and/or Site Director to gain input on your teaching acumen and discuss ways in which you can improve

Experience & Education Minimum Qualifications:

• Candidate must have a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to Biology

Preferred Qualifications:

• Candidate will have a Master's or PhD. from an accredited college or university in Biology
• Graduate level course work in course(s) that you wish to teach
