Job title: Accompanist Company: Olathe Unified School Job description: POSITION SUMMARY: The job of Accompanist was established for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional program with specific responsibilities for providing accompaniments for rehearsals and performances; assisting with classroom clerical tasks; and serving as an instruction resource for students and teachers. PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Accompanies choral ensembles and individuals during a variety of performances (e.g. concerts, tours, festivals, competitions, etc.) for the purpose of assisting with and enhancing performances.
• Analyzes assigned music prior to rehearsal and performances (e.g. correct tempos, challenging transitions, dynamics, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring efficient use of rehearsal time and performance schedules.
• Assists the teacher in supervising student activities for the purpose of ensuring efficient use of class time and maintaining a positive learning environment.

• Exhibits professional and stage etiquette for the purpose of serving as a model of professionalism at musical productions.
• Rehearses new music on their own for the purpose of becoming familiar with the new pieces so they can play them competently.
• Rehearses with individual students, who are preparing for musical competition for the purpose of ensuring they will be able to perform at their top level.
• Rehearses with choral groups for the purpose of playing - full and sectional accompaniment.
